Game Log
Games that I have played and finished in my life and some quick impressions of them. Note that I won't necessarily explain every game, if you wanna learn more about a game, you'll have to look it up.
I admit part of the reason why I made this page is that I forgot a large portion of my gaming memories from my childhood, and want to find those memories again.
Most of the time, if a game is listed, I usually like it, unless I state otherwise. Sometimes I feel like I'm repeating myself in them, sorry about that.
3-D Ultra Minigolf
[PC]
A wacky minigolf game from Sierra, with many courses and even more in the Deluxe version, it plays very well though the whole fixed camera angles can be a slight bit annoying, the french voice acting is very much late 90s crazy.
3-D Ultra NASCAR Pinball
[PC]
I played this one so much in the 3-D Ultra Pinball series, just play this series in general, it gets a little creative and is just too addicting for scores.
3-D Ultra Pinball: Thrillride
[PC]
This one in the series I played much later but it's just a reminder of how good they were at this. Too bad it stopped since this one.
ASTRO BOT
[PS5]
Finished (Platinum Trophy)
I blame this game in part for getting my PS5. Like Astro's Playroom, it's just incredibly cute and fun to play, but it's longer, has tons of ideas, maybe they don't go too far with them though, but I can see the idea of keeping it within a reasonable scope. Honestly a must have platformer.
ASTRO's PLAYROOM
[PS5]
Finished (Platinum Trophy)
If that's supposed to be a tech demo, I want more of those. I was smiling all the way, and I don't just mean all the refs, I was just enjoying the actual game.
Alleyway
[GB]
Probably my first breakout clone. In retrospect there's not many angles for bouncing which is kind of inconvenient for such a game.
Another Code: Recollection
[Switch]
Finished
I have heard of the original games back then for DS and Wii, but it never catched my attention. I did a quick comparison between the remakes and the originals, and sure, this remake is very ambitious compared to the original. I hate the camera controls so much in this remake, it's so stiff. But the rest makes up for it, it's very much a detective game, above all else, the puzzles are pretty easy for the most part, the story is pretty interesting and I got sucked into it for sure. It's not the most amazing game, but it's not bad at all.
Another World
[Multi]
Finished
Also known as Out Of This World in the US, it definitely left an impression on me, a game that told a story without a single word and honestly it didn't age that much to me. The remaster that was made for the 15th and then 20th Anniversary were absolutely top notch.
Apocalypse
[PS1]
Finished
Basically Bruce Willis: The Game. It doesn't have the best ending, but quite a fun twin stick shooter.
Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore
[Switch]
Finished (100%)
Actually pretty nice game that takes the aesthetic of the Zelda CD-i twin game, including the game structure and improves on the gameplay on every aspect. It is a pretty comfy game, and takes around 4 hours to complete 100%.
BOX BOY!
[3DS]
Finished
I actually missed out on that series by HAL Laboratory, the studio behind Kirby. This puzzle game has a ton of levels to go through and gets really complicated as you get further. It is also very mysterious.
BOX BOY! + BOX GIRL!
[Switch]
Finished
The 4th game in the BOX BOY series. And oh boy, it is genuinely not only long, but loves doing some surprises too. The first ending caught me off guard. That said, a lot of the mechanics have been removed or changed from the first game, keeping it simple and gradually builds up difficulty. The game is overall a lot more polished and streamlined a lot of things. If you want some extra difficulty, I suggest picking up all crowns and do the least amount of boxes in one go.
Balloon Fight
[NES]
I would never have played this without NSO. I really spent a lot of time on it, I really tried to rack up a good high score out of it.
Burnout 2: Point of Impact
[PS2]
One of THE racing games of its era. It was so much fun to crash around at times, and very satisfying to pull off boost combos with risky driving.
Burnout 3: Takedown
[PS2]
Burnout 2 was nice, but Burnout 3 decided that you should attack other cars and made a game even more perfect of an arcade experience.
Caveman Ninja
[SNES]
Finished
aka Joe & Mac. The US name is so weird, but fun arcade game port.
Chibi-Robo!
[GCN / Wii]
Finished (100%)
I told myself to do a Chibi-Robo marathon. This is honestly a charming game, a bit clunky but fun to follow the story of a family and household where all sorts of wacky things happen.
Chibi-Robo! Clean Sweep
[NDS]
Finished (100%)
This is a fan translated name, but the actual name is Okaeri! Chibi-Robo! Happy Richie Oosouji. This is the actual sequel to the original that follows the now grown-up Jenny, but unlike the first game, the worst case scenario has already happened, the family is already broken and the house is in a mess. They made chores into an actually entertaining gameplay loop, and I thought the forced touch screen controls would be chore, but honestly, it's one of the best touch screen controls on the DS. I really recommend to play the fan translation.
Chibi-Robo! Park Patrol
[NDS]
Finished (100%)
You don't expect a sequel to be more about the management of a park of flowers, but it had a nice gameplay loop, it's kinda worth doing once. But the forced touch screen gimmicks were really annoying.
Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash
[3DS]
Finished
What's that game? I never heard about that game. The cute amiibo just suddenly released and nothing else happened.
Chrono Trigger
[SNES / NDS / PC]
Finished
I started this game on a whim. I randomly wanted to play it and didn't stop myself. This genuinely hasn't aged that much. There's not that much grinding to do, it's not the most amazing story, but it's one that leaves quite the impression on its details. It's an RPG that also knows how to make use of its mechanics, there are actual strats to do to beat bosses.
Congo's Caper
[SNES]
Finished
Sort of a weird successor to Joe & Mac by the same developers, it's basically more of the same but still is its own thing.
Counter-Strike: Source
[PC]
I was a kid when I played this game. I associate it with how stupid I was back then, but I sure enjoyed it.
Crusader of Centy
[Genesis]
Finished
aka Soleil in Europe. Sort of Sega's answer to Zelda, with a story that purposefully messes with tropes and would kinda call it as an Anti-Undertale kind of game. But the censored US localization compared to the UK version is very bad and missed a lot of the subtle aspects of the story.
Cyber Citizen Shockman Zero
[Switch]
One of the few Satellaview games that came back, originally on a retro cartridge by the owners, and then finally released on a bunch of current systems, with actually some access to debug menus that can change the game like an arcade game. It's actually pretty cool, a bit on the easy side most of the time, but the challenge is more to get through all of it with the least amount of continues. You can put infinite continues if you really want to.
Dead Rising 2
[PC]
Finished
I couldn't play Dead Rising 1 on X360 at the time, and the Wii version didn't feel too great. But I was able to play Dead Rising 2 and I remember enjoying the game's complete silliness.
Demon's Crest
[SNES]
Finished (True Ending)
I really just played this out of nowhere on Nintendo Switch Online, and I didn't think I would have so much fun. It's very dense though, it's honestly quite a bit more scary than badass to me.
Donkey Kong
[NES]
Counting the new version where the Pie Factory stage has been added back, it's the kind of game you finish and then rarely go back to.
Donkey Kong (1994)
[GB]
Finished
This Game Boy version of the original game is anything but like the original when they randomly decided to make one of the best action puzzle platformer ever made.
Donkey Kong 3
[NES]
Without NSO, I would never have gained appreciation for its own unique gameplay with the spray and the flies.
Donkey Kong Country
[SNES]
Finished (101%)
You know, it took me a long time to even finish that game 101% in my life, and it is just a reminder that SNES is just one of the best systems for platformers.
Donkey Kong Jr.
[NES]
It takes cues from the previous game, but it's not as good despite the more involved and intricate level design.
Dr. Mario
[NES / GB]
One of my childhood games, the GB version was probably the first falling block puzzle game I've played.
Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime
[NDS]
Finished
It's very goo. It doesn't do much but what's not to love about a game all about cute slimes and playing a slime from Dragon Quest?
EarthBound
[SNES]
Finished
aka Mother 2 in Japan. Actually the first RPG I finished. I even prefer this over Mother 3 purely on its mood of urban settings and music, the gameplay also helped a lot when finally an RPG has the ability to basically skip fights if you're overleveled, which is such an underrated feature.
Emio - The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club
[Switch]
Finished
A Famicom Detective Club game through and through, for all the good and the bad. Maybe not as good as The Girl Who Stands Behind, but still a story that can make you feel really bad.
F-Zero
[SNES]
Finished
It kind of aged, but boy does it feel very speedy and fun.
F-Zero 99
[Switch]
I played more than 50 hours. There are a few moments where I'm just addicted it's just the best version of the original F-Zero with up to 99 players and boy when you get this many in a lobby it gets so crazy lol
F-Zero: Maximum Velocity
[GBA]
Finished
A successor the SNES F-Zero by the original director, and it shows that it has more in common with SNES than its N64 successor. But it is way more technical and has way more slippery machines so the feel is still pretty different, but it's one of the few games with a tutorial demo inside if you press Select in the title screen. It is still fun to play though, but definitely kind of worse in some aspects. The tracks are I think pretty good though, it is definitely still interesting to play them.
Fade To Black
[PC / PS1]
Finished
The original sequel to Flashback, it's a 3D action/puzzle game, not as much movement as the previous game, so they made up for it with combat and puzzles. It's not too bad but it definitely aged.
Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind
[SNES / Switch]
Finished
I played the Super Famicom version first with a fan translation, and it was honestly very nice, the story was very interesting with tons of twists that doesn't pull back. The ending really surprised me as coming from Nintendo. I also played the Switch remake which was also pretty good, but I think I prefer the Super Famicom's style overall.
Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir
[Switch]
Finished
I always wanted to play this after doing The Girl Who Stands Behind on Super Famicom, and then a remake got to release out of nowhere, in english only unfortunately. But I felt this was pretty good, had some moments that were a little too outdated, but overall pretty cool. The prequel however is way better.
Final Fantasy VIII
[PS1]
I couldn't really finish the game, but oddly enough, out of all the Final Fantasy games on Playstation, this one randomly stood out to me, and I don't really know why. Maybe it's the whole school chill aspect to it that the game started with? It's really an odd one, but I still reached CD4, and have no regret playing it. Unfortunately I also insisted in absolutely not bothering to do battles until the game's difficulty was just too high for me, and I think that was done a little too late. I'll probably do the remaster later.
Fire 'n Ice
[NES]
Finished
aka Solomon's Key 2 in Japan and Europe. I played this on Nintendo Switch Online, and it's a very good puzzle game that, frankly, hasn't aged one bit for a NES game.
Flashback (1992)
[Multi]
Finished
One of the most influent cinematic platformers, it's not necessarily aged the best and the controls can be hard to get, but once you get it, it's a nice time. The graphics are honestly pretty good and the cutscenes are quite a bit memorable.
Flashback (2013)
[Multi]
Finished
It's not great of a remake, but it's not the worst you can get for the base price of $10. Especially after seeing Flashback 2. Somehow I loved speedrunning this version.
Flashback 2
[Multi]
Finished
What the fuck. The concept is nice and all but this is such a buggy game for $40 and the cutscenes are just soulless and possibly AI generated with quick video editing.
Full Void
[Multi]
Finished
Pretty nice cinematic platformer that plays pretty well, with very nice pixel art and animation. The level design is very old fashioned but it's not something I mind too much.
Game & Watch Gallery 2
[GB]
I spent way too much time on Donkey Kong and Chef.
Game & Watch Gallery 3
[GB]
Donkey Kong Jr., Mario Bros. (which I also own and played the original Game & Watch), and Turtle Bridge are so addicting it's not even funny.
Game & Watch Gallery 4
[GBA]
aka Game & Watch Gallery Advance in Europe. Basically a sort of ultimate version of the series, with new modern G&Ws and remakes of old ones from the previous games, I played this back then.
Garry's Mod
[PC]
My first digitally paid game on Steam. I have no idea how many hours I spent playing this sandbox, especially taking into account when I played Garry's Mod 9 which was the last free version.
Grand Theft Auto III
[PC / PS2]
Finished
My first GTA game. I still really like the mood of this one, I dunno, the weird graphics and all had a style that I liked. I never finished the game legit though, I always used cheats lol
Half-Life
[PC / PS2]
Finished
Among the best FPS games I've played in my childhood, so good. Special mention to the multiplayer where I definitely sunk a lot of my time into.
Half-Life 2
[X360 / PC]
Finished
What a game. It's just among the best FPS I've played, and it got us so many other games with the Source engine.
Half-Life 2: Deathmatch
[PC]
I spent so many hours on this, sometimes on regular deathmatches, or co-op maps or puzzle maps.
Half-Life 2: Episode One
[PC]
Finished
Not as major, but for some reason they just didn't name it Half-Life 3, they tried to make it episodic but I think it didn't work as well as it should be.
Half-Life 2: Episode Two
[PC]
Finished (Little Rocket Man)
I did the Little Rocket Man achievement. Never again. Where's Episode Three?
Half-Life 2: Lost Coast
[PC]
Finished
A nice little tech demo distraction.
Heart of Darkness
[PC / PS1]
Finished
Honestly my favorite cinematic platformer by a large margin. It is honestly one for the most polished 2D gameplay animation I've ever seen, and it plays great. Very action and sometimes puzzle oriented.
Hotel Mario
[CD-i]
Oh my god this game is super hard. Like, genuinely. So much for a game where the goal is just about shutting doors, the difficulty is all over the place, sometimes it gets easy, sometimes it gets stupidly hard. Like the other CD-i games, the cutscenes are probably the best part.
Ice Climber
[NES]
The worst jump physics of gaming. I keep missing jumps when it feels like you would just reach the platforms, the physics are just strange and way too vertical.
Joy Mech Fight
[NES]
Finished
By no means a great fighting game, but it still has a bit of charm.
King of the Zoo
[GB]
aka Penguin Wars. Basically throw as many balls to the other side as possible to win. There's not that many opponents, it's a very small game.
Kirby & The Amazing Mirror
[GBA]
Finished
An attempt at Kirby but with a sort of 2D large Metroid-like level design. I had fun with it after playing Return to Dream Land, and did 100%.
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
[N64]
Finished
It has aged a little bit, especially with a super slow Kirby, but it's very moody, and very nice.
Kirby Air Ride
[GCN]
I love this game. A lot of people talk about City Trial, and while I agree it's the best part, I won't forget Air Ride and Top Ride modes that still gets pretty technical.
Kirby Battle Royale
[3DS]
Finished
A game that really shouldn't be on 3DS. A lot of missed potential for a 3D action multiplayer minigame collection. They should have made some sort of top down Zelda game with it instead.
Kirby Fighters 2
[Switch]
Finished Story Mode
Low budget Smash-like game with a lot of abilities. Some missed opportunities, but the rogue-like tower Story Mode in this game is honestly worth it.
Kirby Planet Robobot
[3DS]
Finished
What can go wrong when you put mechs in a Kirby game? Absolutely nothing, maybe it relies a bit too much in references, but still one of my favorites to play.
Kirby Squeak Squad
[NDS]
Finished
also known as Kirby Mouse Attack in Europe. It's not one of the best, but not the worst. But I blame this game a lot for giving the worst Kirby story trope that was never reused since.
Kirby Star Allies
[Switch]
Finished
I... don't like this game as much in the series. Mind you, it's not bad, but I think the multiplayer aspect in the story mode is just not my thing and would just prefer a more single player friendly experience like what Return to Dream Land did. The updates absolutely improved the game to me, but it doesn't solve the main problems to me.
Kirby Super Star
[SNES]
Finished
aka Kirby's Fun Pak in Europe. Banger. Many various modes and minigames and cements many gameplay elements that would be used later, such as movesets. Love it, but...
Kirby Super Star Ultra
[NDS]
Finished
If you can play the game, please play this remake. It's secretly the start of when Kirby started to have many of the elements that the modern titles got. I 100% completed it.
Kirby Triple Deluxe
[3DS]
Finished
Since it's on the 3DS, they opted for a single player story mode and what a story mode it was to me, it really cemented everything about modern Kirby, especially in terms of staging and lore.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land
[Switch]
Finished (100%)
It took them a long time to make a proper 3D Kirby game, but oh my god did they nail it. It's very comfy but still knows how to adjust difficulty over time, a real culmination of everything Kirby could be to me. Special mention to the true final boss of the game who kicked my ass, but oh god I loved fighting that boss.
Kirby's Blowout Blast
[3DS]
Finished
A really nice low priced 3D homage to Kirby's Dream Land expanded from Planet Robobot's Kirby 3D Rumble subgame. Very arcade-y and score based.
Kirby's Dream Buffet
[Switch]
Maybe not worth $15, but this game is honestly good simple fun, but I think it's an album in disguise.
Kirby's Dream Course
[SNES]
I love mini-golf games. Now imagine having Kirby as the ball, with an ability system. Very fun, especially in multiplayer, but the single player is very VERY hard.
Kirby's Dream Land
[GB]
Finished (Extra Mode)
The start of the Twinkle Popo franchise. But yeah this is a good one to spend some little time with. The Extra Mode is pretty hard too.
Kirby's Pinball Land
[GB]
Actually my first Kirby game before anything else. I did a High Score of 2 553 610 points. That should tell you how much I played it lol
Kirby's Return To Dream Land
[Wii]
Finished
aka Kirby's Adventure Wii in Europe. This is my second Kirby game, at the time I only played Pinball Land, and didn't think much about Kirby. I took the opportunity to play this one and then I've never been the same.
Kirby's Return To Dream Land Deluxe
[Switch]
Finished
A remake of my second Kirby game. Not only it perfected the game, but oh my god Magolor Epilogue and Merry Magoland are so worth it.
Kirby's Star Stacker
[SNES]
A very simple VS Puzzle game... but I wish it had more depth to it.
Larax & Zaco
[PC]
Finished
A platformer and destruction game. Collect a specific amount of a certain item, and then bomb the level, the physics of the buildings in destruction is the most satisfying thing ever made. The creator of the game released it for free.
Link: The Faces of Evil
[CD-i]
Finished
I actually played this on real hardware, it's quite sluggish. I think it is harder than its counterpart, especially with all the snowball, fireball and rubies farming that you have to do at times to be able to be properly equipped to finish the game. But it's kinda worth it for the cutscenes. Special mention to the save system that lets you save if the disc couldn't be read.
Lunistice
[PC / Switch]
Finished
Pretty nice challenging fast paced 3D platformer with a little bit of story, with pretty long Sonic-like levels that has pretty nice low poly graphics. It has Toree too. Don't forget to do the bonus contents, I think it's worth it.
Mario Artist Paint Studio
[64DD]
It's a simple drawing application for the 64DD. It might be the least interesting of the bunch, but it's neat, and it is compatible with the rest.
Mario Artist Polygon Studio
[64DD]
Finished
The 3D editor, with so much variety it's insane and then it has an open world mode that makes use of the vehicle creation system. Never forget that, it's worth it.
Mario Artist Talent Studio
[64DD]
They decided that the 64DD needed an extensive character maker and a movie maker that rivals today's character creations in games at times. Absolute banger.
Mario Bros.
[NES]
I hate the jumps in the original version, I just prefer playing the new Classic NES version or GBA version anyday over the original.
Mario Paint
[SNES]
I own this game twice for some reason. I spent a lot of time on it when I was a kid. And my father used it for CRT repairs to test color output.
Mario Party 6
[GCN]
I sunk way too many hours trying to unlock everything. The microphone worked pretty well.
Mario Party Advance
[GBA]
Finished
Imagine the idea of a solo Mario Party with a lot of experimentation on single system multiplayer, with a huge story mode. Honestly I had fun, but I never played the actual board game that was included with it.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong
[Switch]
Finished
A full remake of the GBA game on Switch. I did play the GBA game a bunch but I do not remember finishing it, but I have 100% completed the remake. While the remake kind of removed a bunch of details from the original game, it is still pretty faithful while making the game more in tune with today's age. I appreciate that they removed the score based star in favor of just finding the presents and then making a seperate time attack mode. There's no e-Reader levels though.
Mario's Super Picross
[SNES]
Finished (300)
More like the Picross game that just doesn't finish. Like, anytime you feel like it ends, it doesn't. You can't really make a bad Picross game. I spent many hours on it and completed it.
Marvelous ~Another Treasure Island~
[SNES]
Finished
I really fell in love with the game when I played the fan translation (before my involvement that is), you can tell Eiji Aonuma was inspired by Zelda, but I think it has something of its own, with its point 'n' click mechanics, action and puzzle solving. Not a complicated game, but a nice moody one.
Mega Man Star Force 2
[NDS]
Finished
It was fun to play but I think the story was not very interesting, I finished it for the heck of it but I never went back to it.
Mega Man Star Force 3
[NDS]
Finished
Around the time the game came out, I was asked how to use a R4, which prompted my family to get one. I played the Black Ace version, and finished both in japanese and english actually. It was honestly the best one, the most involved story that actually ends, and the gameplay was refined to be even better.
Metal Gear Solid
[PS1]
Finished
So good. The french dub is also very iconic, and the story was nice to follow to the end. Maybe the gameplay wasn't used to its fullest potential, but the VR Missions addon did exactly that.
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
[PS2 / Xbox / PC]
Finished (Platinum Trophy)
I mention the original name, but I played the Substance version on Xbox and the HD Edition on PS3. I had played the later demo so much back then until I could finally play the full game. Possibly the best use of analog buttons, I was never really annoyed at Raiden personally, but the themes were too deep for when I was a kid. It still fucked me up though lol. The extra missions and Snake Tales are also a fun one. I could never play the Skateboarding mode though.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
[PS2]
Finished
I played a Subsistence version on PS2 and then the HD Edition on PS3. An absolute masterclass. It gets very James Bond-ish and the story is so ridiculous but I had so much fun with the gameplay. And the theme song is insane, the game is so fucking good.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Sons of the Patriots
[PS3]
Finished
Quite possibly the game where Kojima trolled everyone. Some of the most interesting gameplay that was mostly used for Metal Gear Online (I had never played the MGS3 one), the game where everything went to such extremes it's just fascinating. But I would lie if I said I didn't cry at the end.
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
[Multi]
Finished
It was quite the pricey demo. It had 5 missions all based on the same map, and they were very fucking good, it showed a lot of promise. But my god it's so short.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
[Multi]
Finished
I loved the gameplay, I was really into the story... and then Chapter 2 happens and shit went down the drain. And then there's Chapter 3. Not.
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
[PSP / PS3]
Finished
The whole motherbase management while making a lot of sense in the story, it never quite got me. I remember getting sort of disappointed overall, especially with the limited controls of the PSP.
Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions
[PS1]
Around 90%
also just known as Special Missions in Europe as an addon that requires the main game, I have like a 94% save file or something, it was so good, until it gets very hard.
Meteos
[NDS]
Sakurai is such a good game designer, even when he's terrible at this kind of VS block puzzle game he made a banger. It's like a vertical Puzzle League game. Somehow best played using the Kid Icarus Uprising stand.
Metroid Dread
[Switch]
Finished (100% Items, Dread Mode)
Now holy shit do I love this game so much. I actually rarely replay a game many times after finishing it once. Did every difficulty setting, even Dread mode which I had started as a joke... and finished with 100% items, 323 deaths, and in about 11 hours. I'll never do that mode again, but playing this game was a blast, I feel so great just moving Samus around.
Metroid Fusion
[GBA]
Finished
Surprisingly having a lot of story compared to the others, it is definitely a bit more linear in structure, it was kind of fun to play but I don't get the deal with SA-X. I never really got scared like some people were saying.
Metroid Prime
[GCN / Wii]
Finished
I actually played the Wii version on real hardware, once you properly set it up it's actually good to play, and while I didn't 100% it, it was a very nice transition to 3D.
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
[GCN / Wii]
Finished
I also played the Wii version, and frankly I think it's the superior game that had a tighter core gameplay and level design focus. I couldn't help playing until the end.
Metroid Samus Returns
[3DS]
Finished
I never played the original, which looked really rough, so I played this one. It cemented my interest in the Metroid series honestly once I finally got hooked.
Metroid Zero Mission
[GBA]
Finished
One day I told myself to do a Metroid marathon, so I played all the remakes and originals in chronogical order. This is a good introduction to the series, maybe a bit too linear but honestly I never minded it.
Metroid: Other M
[Wii]
I ragequitted after the first 2 hours, not even for the story, but purely for gameplay reasons. The first real combat section, and I couldn't understand the tutorial for evading attacks, and it just didn't feel good to play.
Mighty Bomb Jack
[NES]
I knew about this game since Game Center CX, I bothered to play it on NSO. I do think it's fun, but boy it is hard.
Mother 3
[GBA]
Finished
It is definitely one of the biggest GBA games. It is way more linear than EarthBound, especially story wise, it has a lot to tell, the music is very good. The english fan translation by Tomato is genuinely good. I even cried at the end.
Music 2000
[PC / PS1]
aka MTV Music Generator in the US. Not enough with Mario Paint's music editor, I experimented a lot with music making with this and actually kept my old work. Maybe I should make it available even if it's not that good.
NES Remix
[Wii U]
I remember liking this game back then, but replaying it is honestly a chore, it's so slow, and the main point of the game is just hidden behind unlocks, I wish this was not the case.
Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition
[Switch]
All S Ranks (100%)
The way faster paced nature makes it a lot more replayable than NES Remix in my opinion. It could gain modes like a Score Mode, and a Remix Mode would also be great. It also desperately needs at least some sort of friend leaderboards for all challenges just to at least compete with each other.
Operation Logic Bomb
[SNES]
Finished
A pretty short game that I played on NSO, very sort of shmup inspired, very simple and to the point, with a bit of a story but I wish I could skip the cutscenes at times.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
[Switch]
Finished
20 years after not being able to beat the final boss in the original GameCube version, I've finished the remake. It's a very good RPG, with some parts that aged a little badly, but a mere reminder that Paper Mario is truly at its best when it does not try to overcomplicate the battle system for no actual legitimate reason. Truly a good time.
Part Time UFO
[Mobile / Switch]
I played both the mobile and Switch versions, but play the Switch version it's much better to control. It's a cute game by the Kirby devs all about a crane UFO and you should play it.
Pilotwings
[SNES]
Finished
It really gets difficult, but I love the mood of that game so much. One of my favorite SNES soundtracks.
Pilotwings 64
[N64]
It really perfected everything about the original, playing this with a higher framerate on NSO was also a blast. I may still prefer the mood of the SNES version in ways, but this is still very fun.
Pilotwings Resort
[3DS]
Finished
My least favorite of the Pilotwings trilogy (so far), it's not bad by any means and offers some variety, but I wish it had more to it.
Pinball
[NES]
I do not really understand why they programmed the flippers to be invisible past a certain score. A very basic pinball game and I still don't understand how the bonus game works.
Portal
[X360 / PC]
Finished
Some of the best puzzle games I've played in my life.
Portal 2
[PS3 / PC]
Finished
They really perfected it with a story that was really nice to follow. Then they added a level editor and other nice things, seriously incredible game.
Radical Dreamers
[Multi]
Finished
Originally released on Satellaview, Square Enix finally rereleased it and localized it in multiple languages officially in Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition. A pretty short interactive novel that acts as a sequel to Chrono Trigger of sorts, replayable after the first full playthrough to reach widely different stories that can be outright parodic. Worth a bit of time.
Retro Game Challenge
[NDS]
Finished
aka Game Center CX: Arino no Chousenjou. Developed by indieszero, it's honestly a very good interpretation of typical retro games while still being rather original, challenging you, including game manuals and magazines to find tips to help you.
Sim City
[SNES]
Why hasn't this rereleased in the many years since the removal of the Wii VC version is just beyond me. Honestly one of the most chill soundtracks ever made.
Spanky's Quest
[SNES]
Finished
I know this title sounds really ridiculous, but I still played it on NSO, and it's a little arcade game based on a bouncing ball and a monkey and it's a lot more fun once you get the gameplay.
Special Tee Shot
[SNES]
The original version of Kirby's Dream Course, with the same engine, released on Satellaview. Focused on core mini-golf experience, you just reach the hole, with some special abilities, it gets oddly strategic, but also is hardcore to unlock the Gold Course.
Splatoon
[Wii U]
Finished (Hero Mode)
I really felt this new IP was going somewhere. The multiplayer was not something that kept me going however, but I had fun playing the story mode.
Splatoon 2
[Switch]
Finished (Hero Mode)
It's basically Splatoon 1.5 on Switch to me. It didn't do a lot though it definitely did some improvements here and there. The story mode was cool too, but is mostly following the same footsteps as the first game.
Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion
[Switch]
Finished
I listed the DLC seperately because it's worth it. This single player DLC actually tried to be different and boy did I have fun playing. It gets challenging, and the finale is a very fun moment.
Splatoon 3
[Switch]
Finished (Hero Mode)
Unlike the previous two games, I played it more than 160 hours. The catalog and locker systems actually got me motivated to play more from time to time. I'm still not too addicted, but it was way more fun to me. The story mode took cues on Splatoon 2 and Octo Expansion, and I sure didn't mind, it was pretty cool.
Splatoon 3: Side Order
[Switch]
Finished (All Color Chip Data, Low Hacks)
After exactly 50 runs, I 100% finished this DLC for Splatoon 3. This is a roguelite attempt at a solo campaign, and it works pretty well, but once you do all 12 weapons you essentially run out of new content, and your appreciation will very much depend on how you stand doing the same thing over and over. There's no real randomly generated stuff much, it's just a lot of premade content selected for each floor of the tower.
Star Fox 2
[SNES]
Finished (Normal Mode)
I bought the SNES Mini purely for this. I had played the beta version a while back, and I was one of the few who noticed from the official SNES Mini footage that the game was definitely having more aggressive enemies. The beta was so much easier, and the final version is very hard to complete especially with the random rogue-like nature of the game.
Star Fox 64
[N64]
Finished
aka Lylatwars in Europe. I wish I had a lot to say, but I thought it was worse than the SNES games. I don't really like the mood of this one.
Startropics
[NES]
Finished
It's weird to think Nintendo made a game aimed for the western market ONLY. They do think of the western market in many ways, but this one is a very polished experience that's worth your time. Just keep in mind the frequency information that the NSO release can't bother to include inside it and had to make a freaking web page just to say it...
Super Bomberman 2
[SNES]
Finished
Childhood game. I definitely sunk hours and hours in the Battle Mode and even Normal Mode a bunch while only finishing it like twice or something.
Super Gussun Oyoyo
[SNES]
Imagine Tetris but about guiding a character to the exit of a level. It gets really difficult, but it's a very good concept.
Super Gussun Oyoyo 2
[SNES]
Finished (Main Mode)
The sequel to the first game, it has different levels, and a full on puzzle mode.
Super Kirby Clash
[Switch]
Finished (100%)
The second free-to-play Kirby title, I spent the max amount of money on it and I completed all the achievements 100%. I do think the focus on boss fights is fun, but maybe it shouldn't have been free-to-play though.
Super Mario All-Stars
[SNES]
Finished
Quite possibly my first video game ever. You can't really go wrong with a pack of 4 enhanced ports of Mario games. I don't think I could start with a better title.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder
[Switch]
Finished (100%)
Frankly the game that the Super Mario Bros. series needed. It's not hard, but it doesn't need to be. I was just grinning all the way, finally a game that allowed Nintendo to experiment many more ideas, and a more tasteful art direction that will probably age better than the New series. Special mention to the online which sure, is not what people probably wanted, but doing the puzzle levels with them was somewhat quite the refreshing co-op experience. The true final level is a real pain though lol
Super Mario Odyssey
[Switch]
Finished (100%)
I had a big grin on my face for pretty much the whole game I think. I think it's the best 3D Mario ever made, with the best Mario has ever controlled. Many think the moons are less special because they're everywhere but I genuinely do not agree.
Super Mario RPG (2023)
[Switch]
Finished
It feels so much smoother and faster than the original, which I never had the patience to finish back then, but this one did get me to finish it. There are still a few issues that seems to stem from the original, but all in all, playing this game officially in french was for me a highlight.
Super Mario World
[SNES]
Finished
I remember asking for this game after I played Super Mario All-Stars. While I may prefer Super Mario Bros. 3's variety, this is still a charming Mario game.
Super Metroid
[SNES]
Finished (70% Items)
Oh my god. Once I got into it, it was an amazing game. Some of the controls aged though, like the walljumps and space jump especially, and the map system not showing doors was an annoying thing for me. But once you get past these problems, you get amazing gameplay and a masterclass in sound design. Please never underestimate the power of true silence.
Super Off-Road
[SNES]
There are other versions, but the SNES version with Follin brothers music is the best one. My mom actually played this game way too much and learned how to use emulators just to play it more and use save states to counter the lack of saving.
Super Paper Mario
[Wii]
Finished
The first Paper Mario game I truly finished. Though it's absolutely not like any other game in the series, some people would say the writing is maybe not as interesting but I always found the game funny, and I was still into the story it wanted to tell. It's such a weird game in retrospect, but no regrets in playing it. Less battles, more of everything else, and that could be a future for the series in my opinion.
Super Smash Bros.
[N64]
The core Smash Bros. experience. 12 characters, 9 stages, 3 bonus games. Most people forget Board The Platforms and Race to the Finish.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
[Wii]
Finished (100%)
385 hours of Power Time, 175 hours of Play Time. The story mode in retrospect is a subpar Kirby game, but it was still so hype. I also 100% finished that game like Melee, before Smash 3DS, with all trophies, all stickers, everything in 2014. Never again lol
Super Smash Bros. Melee
[GCN]
Finished (100%)
According to the Misc Records, we have 421 hours of Power Time, and 198 hours of Play Time. I actually 100% completed the game with every trophies in 2014, right before Smash 3DS came out.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
[Switch]
Finished (World of Light)
108 hours sunk into this game. The multiplayer first focus honestly kind of lost me as I am mainly a solo player. I played Smash almost like an arcade game, and the focus on having less bonus modes definitely had a sour taste to me, especially the Story Mode which kinda got boring after a while. It's too bad though because the bosses are honestly the best the series ever had.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS
[3DS]
I won't bother looking at the time spent, because as much as a Smash Bros. on 3DS was hype at the time, I don't believe I spent a lot of time on it, especially after Wii U. But Smash Run was honestly nice.
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
[Wii U]
I don't have my save anymore, but I must have spent quite some time in many of the modes, definitely unlocked a lot of things and probably completed a bunch of modes like Event Matches.
Sutte Hakkun
[SNES]
Unlocked EX Levels
A puzzle platforming game from Nintendo and indieszero, first released on Satellaview then got a proper full cartridge release, a very addicting game that shouldn't be ignored.
Sutte Hakkun GB
[GB]
The unreleased GB counterpart, which leaked in the gigaleak in 2020. I don't understand why this never came out, it's a very good cut down version that kept things very on point.
THE Block Kuzushi
[Arcade / PS1]
THE Breakout clone to me. It doesn't have much, but it added pinball-like mechanics to the game, do not ignore this game.
Team Kirby Clash Deluxe
[3DS]
Finished (100%)
The first free-to-play Kirby title, focused on boss fights and a slight bit of RPG elements here and there. Super Kirby Clash pretty much perfected it, but it has some charm of its own.
Tetris
[NES / GB]
The classic. Enough said.
Tetris Attack
[SNES]
Finished (VS Mode)
The Yoshi version of Panel de Pon on SNES, which I just highly prefer, I was never a fan of the fairies. Deeply addicting VS Puzzle game, I'm not necessarily that great at it but peak fun.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
[Wii U / Switch]
Finished
This game unironically made me like Zelda more. I wasn't into the series, but when E3 2016 happened, the trailer got my attention, and the gameplay demo had me expecting a specific kind of open world game. And then I played it and it was exactly what I wanted. I can't keep track of hours but I had such a good time.
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (2019)
[Switch]
Finished
It's odd how after playing Breath of the Wild it did get me more motivated to play Zelda games, so I played this remake of Link's Awakening while I was at it, as the original was highly viewed. It was good, but I got a bit disappointed in its boss design as it was definitely just stuck to the simple Game Boy days.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
[Switch]
Finished
The moment I saw some sort of vehicle creation I said it's like Mario Artist Polygon Studio. I still kind of stand by it, but I think the game got a slight bit too complicated in its controls. But I still had fun with it, I finished all the shrines and the depths. I spent less hours on it than its prequel, but those hours were a lot more intense.
Toree 2
[Multi]
Finished
Sequel to Toree 3D, if you didn't have enough Toree content this is just as great for the same price.
Toree 3D
[Multi]
Finished
Fun times for a small 3D fast paced platformer for 99 cents. It is very simple to pick and play and for a madman like me who just loves to run all the time this is a great time.
Toree Genesis
[PC]
Finished
Free 3 level homage to Sonic, if you wanted to try out Toree before buying.
Toree's Panic Pack
[Switch]
I don't like it. While I do like precise gameplay, and can usually accept trial and error to an extent, I think the level design is just not good and more annoying than it should. Toree Genesis is the only good part of this, Toree Jumbled Jam 2's level design is genuinely annoying and not fun, Toree Missions is clearly trying to be like MGS1's VR Missions, but... the precision and difficulty gets really frustrating.
Vice: Project Doom
[NES]
Finished
I played this on NSO, and I was really impressed by how the game did not age that much for an action platformer game on NES. It literally avoids a lot of the common problems of NES games it could have just released as an indie pixel art game today and none would be the wiser.
Wario Ware GOLD
[3DS]
Finished
The best Wario Ware, it has everything and then some for those who cares about completing it 100%. The best selection of microgames.
Wario Ware: D.I.Y.
[NDS]
Possibly the one successor to Mario Paint, but with microgame creation, music creation and comic creation. I spent too much time on the music maker personally.
Wario Ware: Get It Together!
[Switch]
Finished
I'll be honest I thought it was good. I even did every Wario Cup every single week until the last one. It's different, but still fun.
Wario Ware: Move It!
[Switch]
Finished
I did play Smooth Moves back then but I genuinely do not remember anything, so this one was a nice start for the motion controls of Wario Ware. I didn't actually have much trouble with the motions personally, I had a good time.
Worms Armageddon
[Multi]
I had played the Dreamcast version a lot, especially my mom too. Still the best Worms game in the series to me, it already had everything.
Wrecking Crew '98
[SNES]
Imagine Wrecking Crew, which the original is included, but make it a VS Puzzle game. It's kinda weird, but is oddly good once you get the gameplay mechanics in its entirety.
Yoshi's Island
[SNES]
What a beautiful game. Perfection. Great use of SuperFX, and it doesn't joke around with the level design, the game still knows how to be very challenging.
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
[NES]
Finished
I stand by this game. To a degree because I still think the difficulty is bullshit, but I don't think the game is that cryptic as long as you understand that the translation is a bit iffy and that things should be taken more literally. The result is still a game that has some ambitious ideas, and a huge potential for combat to feel honestly good but has too much RNG at times that it becomes a matter of a player's endurance.
Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon
[CD-i]
Finished
I actually played this on real hardware, it's quite sluggish. It's actually the easiest game of the two, and is a lot easier to pick up and play in my opinion. That doesn't make it very fun necessarily, but like the other one, the cutscenes are funny. Special mention to the save system that lets you save if the disc couldn't be read, that saved my butt several times.
